Irish market research forecasts that €800 million worth of transactions will be conducted through mobile devices in 2012. As smartphones adoption continues to rise, the demand for the development of mobile applications is enormous.
But what are the implications for a project manager working on app projects? How relevant is planning in iterations and launching with a minimal viable product (MVP)?
In this presentation, Roland shows pitfalls when it comes to mobile app development and demonstrates how elements of Agile Project Management can support the success of mobile apps.
Roland is the founder of mApps.ie, a consultancy company that creates mobile apps. He also co-founded AppKickr to deliver affordable mobile apps to SMEs.
He is an experienced IT project manager with more than 16 years industry experience. He has worked with several Fortune 500 companies in Europe, US and Canada. He is a PMP, holds a degree in Technical Computer Science and has lived and worked in San Francisco, Munich, Dusseldorf and Dublin.

Following on from the previous presentation which shows why we need continuous customer feedback - this one shows how Agile and Scrum are implemented from a project manager’s perspective. Fran will present the key principles and practices of Agile and Scrum and the benefits achievable. Particular emphasis will be placed on covering how requirements are managed in agile, how estimation and planning are performed as well as the implications for traditional roles (such as the project manager) when an organisation adopts agile. Typical pitfalls and potential solutions will be highlighted.
Fran is Principal Consultant and founder/director of Inspire Quality Services where he specializes in pragmatic approaches to process improvement, agile and associated practices. He has delivered hundreds of seminars, tutorials, workshops and courses in all aspects of software process and quality particularly agile and test related. He is currently engaged supporting a number of clients transition to a more agile way of working.
