Not-For-Profit Mission Statement

This programme aims to serve both the members and the community by:

For the community

  • Facilitating access to a pool of potential volunteers with experience and skills in Project Management who can contribute to organisations, operating in the community, voluntary and not-for-profit sector, across a range of skills including: Defining scope of work, Planning & Scheduling, Issue & Risk Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Budget and fiscal planning.

For our members

  • Working to identify opportunities for our members to volunteer their professional services to community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations, and in doing so aiding their own professional development while benefitting the community.
  • Raising awareness of the value of project management, the work of Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Ireland Chapter of the PMI within the community, and in doing so increase the profile & value of project management as a profession.

Upcoming Activity

Over the coming months your Chapter will continue to work at building up relationships with community organisations and corporate partners to implement the outreach programme. We aim to work with these partners to identify suitable opportunities for our members to volunteer their professional skills.

Activities Include:

  • A dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility event in Dublin, in partnership with leading not-for-profit and social partners, during the autumn/winter. Call to action: we are currently looking for a suitable organisation to host the event any organisations interested should contact the Outreach officer.
  • Complete a survey of project management practices in voluntary organisations. The objective of the survey is to identify the level of project management maturity in the sector and areas where members can contribute and assist. The results of the survey will be published on the web-site and presented at the CSR event in the autumn/winter.
  • Establishing case studies from members who have firsthand experience of project management practices in the sector with a view to sharing their experiences and knowledge with other members through events and whitepapers.

How to Participate

  • Sharing experiences: We would like to hear from members who have experience of applying their project management knowledge and experience working with community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations. Through hearing about your experiences the Chapter can determine how best to support the Outreach programme, and you can share your experiences in the sector back with other members with a view to increasing the level of membership participation in the sector.
  • Get involved: Organisations like Boardmatch and Volunteer Centres Ireland are always looking for skilled professionals to volunteer and share their knowledge. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Outreach officer or the organisations directly. In addition to the development of a stronger civil society, participation can also enhance your own personal, career and professional development. If you do volunteer please let the Chapter know of your experiences.
