Day 1 a great start to Global Congress
With a buzz of excitement and a major wow factor about the venue, PMI Global Congress 2011 EMEA got off to a great start
Day 1 of Congress passed in something of a whirl for the Ireland Chapter committee and volunteers, as we worked to get the Ireland Chapter booth set up and greeted lots of old colleagues from previous Congresses. Among the highlights were:
- The event opened with 808 attending, from dozens of countries
- There are over 80 attendees from Ireland registered
- One of the stars of Day 1 is the venue. Convention Centre Dublin is wowing the visitors with its views, modernity, style and light
- Kevin Eyres, former CEO of LinkedIn Europe, gave the keynote, setting out the role of social media in project management. As well as LinkedIn, he has a long track record in technology-related companies and his in-depth experience came through in the keynote
- Ireland Chapter of PMI organised the Student Day today, at which students of project management could attend a day of Congress at a cut rate
- The Kemmy (University of Limerick) and Smurfit (UCD) business schools gave presentations student day
- Ireland Chapter members and committee members turned out to staff our booth and for volunteering duties
The buzz and good feeling that marked the day ran right through to the formal opening reception in the exhibition area that concluded Day 1 activities.
